How to choose pointe shoes

Pointe shoes are one of the most recognisable features of classical ballet, alongside the tutu. Often, dancing ‘en pointe’ is something that dancers strive for, and it can be a big step to finally don the first pair of pointe shoes. Dancing en pointe takes a huge amount of skill and strength, and the move onto pointe shouldn’t be taken lightly. Our teachers are trained to ensure the safety of our pupils, and therefore it should only be when the teacher says that the child is ready and strong enough that the first pair of pointe shoes should be purchased.
