The Bristol School of Dancing was founded in 1947, it has been under the current ownership since 1970. It is a family run business that prides itself on traditional training but is also innovative and forward thinking to be completely up to date with current dance trends, check out our range of dance classes. It is proud to nurture creativity and aims for excellence at all times with every child treated and respected as an individual who can achieve his or her utmost potential. Miss Lucy

Royal Ballet School, PBT Certified Teacher

Lucy trained at Bush Davies Theatre from 12-17. She then furthered her training in London at the Royal Ballet Upper School (where her pas de deux partner was Adam Cooper) and Central School of Ballet.

Professional work included a Swan Lake tour with Vienna Festival Ballet and various musical theatre/cabaret contracts. She lived in  Greece for ten years and worked on Greek television productions and a Mediterranean cruise.

Lucy has worked for The Bristol School of Dancing for nearly 20 years, choreographing many pieces for competitions. The groups and solos have been very successful and won many trophies including 'Best Choreography.'

Lucy has also worked for a well-known theatre school and runs her own local dance school in Saltford. She has committed herself to more RAD Ballet work at BSD and is enjoying teaching the wonderful students across all age groups.

Miss Maria

BA, ISTD DDE, PBT Certified Teacher, Xtend Barre Certified Instructor

Maria Carolina Mosele was born in the county of São Paulo - Brazil, where she started dancing at the age of 7 at Studio de Dança PioX. At 13 years old she joined the School Dancing Company and got Certificates from several Competitions. She is a Bachelor of Arts Subjects conferred by Pontifícia Universidade Católica - SP, and an Xtend Barre Certified Instructor.

She started teaching Ballet in São Paulo in 2012 for International Schools such as Chapel School, Red House School, Builders and Maple Bear Canadian School, and on a one-to-one basis. She also worked as an actress with Theatre Companies travelling across the country for several years. In 2016 she moved to the UK and started her training with Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD).  She is a certified teacher of Progressing Ballet Technique.

Miss Helena

BEd (Hons) Dance, RT bbodance, TBB Pointe L2, TBB L 1 for Dance Teachers and Health Professionals

Helena's initial training was at the Pauline Howard School of Dance. Here she studied RAD Ballet, ISTD Ballet, Modern, Tap and National. Helena is one of a small number of people to hold a degree initiated by LCDD (the training college for the ISTD). She discovered a love for Graham and Cunningham contemporary techniques, Cecchetti ballet as well as for choreograph.

She undertook further training at the RAD. She has taught ballet in private studios, GCSE and A Level Dance and Theatre Studies in the maintained and private sectors, was a visiting lecturer in Dance at De Montfort University,  Head of Performing Arts, teacher assessor and mentor and a drama examiner.  She has interests in physiology, biomechanics and the historical context of ballet and the arts.

Miss Laura

ISTD DDI  Modern and Tap

Laura has been dancing since the age of 4, she has studied Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz, Commercial/Street, Musical Theatre and Contemporary dance. Laura  studied professionally for four years in dance and musical theatre. She started at Swindon College Town Hall, progressing to Bodyworks Cambridge Performing Arts School.

Laura has performed in many dance shows and has danced professionally for corporate events. Among her early training experiences, Laura performed with the Royal Ballet at the Bath theatre Royal and took part in a Ballet workshop taught and choreographed by Wayne Sleep. Laura discovered her love for teaching when she started working with “The Cheerleading Company” South West in 2010, gaining the NCSSE Cheer & Dance Coaching Principles & Ethics qualification in cheerleading.

Since then she has gained experience and taught ISTD modern, tap and ballet at various dance schools. Laura enjoys teaching Modern, Tap, commercial/street dance, choreography and working all students to the highest standard and she is thrilled to be part of the Bristol School of Dancing and seeing the students grow during the year.

Miss Tabitha

FdA DTPS, BA (Hons), ISTD DDE (IB, M, Con), RAD RTS, RT bbodance

Tabitha's first steps in Ballet and Tap were at the Grand Theatre School of Dance in Swansea. Upon moving to North Somerset, she continued dance classes in Ballet, Modern and Tap at The Bristol School of Dancing initially at the Clevedon branch where she assisted Miss Melanie.

She was a Cecchetti Associate for several years and also attended classes and intensives with Ballet Cymru. It was this involvement which confirmed that she would like to become a dance teacher specialising in ballet.

Tabitha gained her ISTD DDE and RAD RTS qualifications alongside her FdA Dance Teaching in the Private Sector and BA(Hons) Dance Studies. She also holds RTS with bbodance. Tabitha is enthusiastic about inspiring young people to explore all aspects of dance including the historical development of different genres and safe dance practice.
